Visit the Night Market

The night market is always a good place to start your exploration of any city. It’s a place where locals come to socialise, meet new people and exchange goods and services.

The Hoi An night market is famous around Vietnam and is a great way to get a feel for the local life. The market is held on the last Sunday of each month, when the city empties out, and the vendors set up their stalls along the roads and on the sides of the buildings in the old town.

This is also a great place to spot some of Hoi An’s more famous residents – the late Mr. Vo Truyen, the inventor of Spam and other canned food products, is a local legend. If you’re here in the summer, be sure to visit the Song Han Market, which is set up in the nearby park and features a range of attractive and lively outdoor stalls.

Take a walk along the Riverfront

The long and bustling Nguyen Trai Street is the heart of the city and is lined with several interesting shops, cafes and restaurants. You can follow this path all the way along the riverfront, where there are plenty of cafes and restaurants to enjoy a drink or a meal.

There are several bridges that you can cross to explore the other side of the river, where there are lots of interesting sights, including the Co Loa Temple Complex, the Imperial Citadel and the city’s old Vietnamese military citadel. The riverfront is also popular with tourists, so this is a great place to escape the crowds. And when the weather is nice, you can head up to the edge of the river to enjoy some fresh air while you eat your meal.

Explore the Historic District

If you wander through the old town, you’ll discover that it’s almost like a different country. In this small area, you’ll find a fusion of French architecture, Japanese trading houses and more Vietnamese architecture. The red-tiled roofs are characteristic of Vietnam’s architecture, but if you look closely, you’ll see that they’re decorated with intricate sculptures and intricate designs.

Explore the narrow streets and alleyways, where you’ll find colorful shops and restaurants that cater to both tourists and the local population. You can also explore the area with a guide, as this is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. And if you want to stay for longer, you can even book a homestay.

Check out Hoi An’s Temple Culture

Hoi An is famous for its Temple Culture, which is a unique blending of Chinese and Vietnamese Buddhist and Confucian ideals. Buddhist architecture is present throughout the city, but many of the temples have a Confucian flavour, too.

You can visit the largest temple complex in the old town, the Quan Yin Pagoda, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the most important Buddhist sites in Southeast Asia. There are also several smaller temple complexes in the old town. And don’t miss the Cu Lao Temple and the Buddhist Temple of the Eight Immortals, which are both located in the countryside.

Visit one of Vietnam’s Top 3 Beaches

The beach in Hoi An might be small, but it’s still a great place to escape from the city. You can pack a picnic and explore the old town, or head to the beach and relax in the sunshine. If you want to stay active, you could join a nearby adventure tour or explore some of the nearby countryside with a bicycle tour. Whatever you do, don’t forget to take some photos of the beach and Hoi An skyline. This will remind you of your time in Vietnam.

Hang Out at the Local Pub and Cafe Scene

While Hoi An might be a World Heritage Site, it also has a thriving local pub and cafe scene. You can choose to explore the city on foot or by bike, or you can grab a beer and chill out at one of the many beachside restaurants. There are plenty of good hotels in the city, but if you want to get a bit further from the tourist crowds, consider staying at one of the hotels in the countryside.

Introduction of Vietnamese art exhibition “Memory land” of Vu Dinh Luong

Memory land – art exhibition of Vu Dinh Luong artist in August 2022

The lacquer paintings displayed in the exhibition are impressive for their depiction of Vietnam and its people. The exhibition displays paintings of young women, lotus flowers, landscapes, religions, activities, and other subjects in a diverse range of colours and hues. The artists create and explore lacquer in a variety of ways in each artwork. The visual stories that the artist tells are quite diverse in both two-dimensional and three-dimensional settings.

In spite of the fact that the material remains the same, the artist has achieved different outcomes. The light can transform into a spacious area or a garment made from shell material in order to accomplish this. The author has worked hard to perceive and transform materials into a variety of qualities and facets.

The author’s watercolor and lacquer paintings are opposite in nature and are therefore incredibly accepted. A watercolor painting is gentle and inclusive, while a lacquer painting is firm and powerful. During the grinding process for a hard lacquer painting of a carpentry work, watercolors fly and swirl beneath a lacquer water layer. The paintings result in layers and layers of lacquer, producing stunning artworks.

The author wants people to see his 2nd exhibition like ” From the village to the street “. After 4 years, he has returned.

We can feel nostalgic emotions while enjoying the artist’s paintings, which were painted in the past and still evoke the feeling of noble girls and elegant living spaces in fashionable landscapes. The artist’s portraits of old ladies, in which we can see the noble girls’ portraits, evoke these sentiments first of all. We can see much more of the human soul’s autumn-like qualities in the artist’s still life paintings, which are very unique in color and composition. The artist has layered time on those objects to create the impression that “this is definitely not an image of today!”

Painter Nguyen Le Anh with the theme of paintings depicting the life of the Vietnamese generation “neither far nor near”

In Nguyen Le Anh’s paintings, viewers see different perspectives on the same scenes, but most of them are strongly affected by the painter’s classical colours. Nguyen Le Anh, on the other hand, is seeking to explore themes about “the new life of Vietnam during the reform period.”

The artist described: “I am a storyteller. Those stories may be pieces of my memories, of those around me or of those who have affected me in a lasting way. I said that the pictures look both familiar and strange. The pictures might seem familiar because they are pictured through the lens of the narrator, who was then me, walking between the real world and the imaginative one.”

The artist reminds us about small corner of childhood where there was a school yard, a street, with an eagle tree and our little friends

Rather than following in the footsteps of contemporary art movements or imitating classical styles, Nguyen Le Anh’s paintings preserve his artistic integrity and distinctiveness. Going his own way, the artist has created his own artistic path. The artist was able to reproduce the lives of “the young generations of a time”, according to Nguyen Le Anh. They were said to be “not far but not close”, although they were not close. They lived “halfway between the past and the future”. It was the period when the country was at peace after the war, when life was still difficult. However, the lives of the 7x, 8x, 9x generations did not prevent people from experiencing the joys of childhood, the aspirations of youth. This period was characterized by mild changes in Vietnamese society, making it difficult for young people today to remember it.

By focusing on the concerns of his generation, painter Nguyen Le Anh has been able to create serene village scenes, record the feelings of the generation toward the new life during the period of reform, and the phase of innovation. Through their paintings, Nguyen’s works have delivered cultural values, helping people to appreciate the beauty of their homeland in addition to generating the love of each person for their homeland.

Using still life, old-town landscape paintings in modern interiors

If you like your old-town oil paintings, artist Nguyen Le Anh’s work is a good choice. His landscape paintings evoke the memory of one’s hometown, just as the art-lovers can find in them the scenery they know so well.
